Development of cross border tourism in Central Danube region

razvoj-prekogranicnog-turizIn June 2007 Association for nature and environment protection Green Osijek started working on a project “Development of cross border tourism in Central Danube region” as a project applicant. European Commission supports project from CARDS 2004 pre-accession fund. Other partners on this project are Tourist association of Osijek – Baranja County, Tourist association of City of Osijek and City of Sombor.

Goal of the project is economical and social development of Central Danube area and sustainable usage of natural and cultural resources trough development of new tourist products and cross border cooperation.

Within the project:

  • Make data bases of tourist attractions for Baranja and Bačka
  • Develop new tourist activities trough education and participation of local communities (with professional eco tourism trainers and experts we will determine most attractive points and name possible tourist attractions. Best ideas will be selected on training and proceeded for financing in the form of the new project proposals)
  • Develop new branches on biking route Panonnian peace trail
  • Mark hiking trails with observation posts
  • Open reception desk in Eco Centre Zlatna Greda
  • Create cross border tourist offer
  • Make promotional material (brochures, posters, web pages)
  • Present and promote new cross border tourist offer on markets and fairs

New, innovative ways of visiting Kopački rit, and Central Danube area as photo safari, bird watching, biking tours, canoeing are the ways to use natural goods but protect them in long – term as well, and benefit development of the Central Danube area.
