Project

Development of Pécs-Osijek-Antunovac-Ivanovac biking route

hucr_logo_turism_hrProject’s main goal is sustainable development and environment protection in cross-border region through construction and enhancement of existing cycling networks in order to develop “capillary” route on the Croatian side, connecting villages of Ivanovac and Antunovac with bike routes in and around Osijek.

Two “thematic” routes will also be signposted. First will be in Antunovac, leading to the site of the protected bird – Falco Cherrung and the other one to the historic 13th century fortress “Korogyvar” surrounded with natural environment and small lake. Along these routes there is a farm of lipicaner horses which is also an interesting destination. New bicycle routes will be connected to already existing routes in Osijek and Baranja, and along Drava River towards Hungary.
Bicycle signs will be developed according to EU standards. Information boards for visitors will be developed along the route. Interactive and hardcopy map of the route will be created. It will point to interesting destinations and attractions along the route.
In Antunovac municipality parking spaces and benches for cyclists will be placed along the route. With promotional campaign the public interest will be raised through leaflets, brochures, media, web site and international cycling events between Pecs and Antunovac.
Main elements on the Hungarian side are: to develop a plan to build a bicycle route leading out of the city of Pecs, to signpost the route to Croatian border with benches and resting places. During project several studies will be developed. They will provide scientific and expert support to the project. Also the training for bicycle and tourism subjects will be held.

Finally, the specific goal of the project is to create new tourist product – bicycle route and path Pecs-Osijek-Antunovac-Ivanovac which will give new dimension to tourism development and opportunities to create new working places in this region.
